Flumethrin is commercially available as a solution for application and as strips. It has been approved in many countries since 1991.
Structure and properties
Flumethrin (C28H22Cl2FNO3, Mr = 510.4 g/mol) belongs to the pyrethroids. These are synthetically produced, chemically more stable derivatives of the pyrethrins naturally occurring in certain chrysanthemums (, Dalmatian insect flower).
Effects
Flumethrin (ATCvet QP53AC05) has insecticidal properties.
Indications
Flumethrin is approved as a veterinary drug for the treatment of infestations of mites, lice, hair lice, and ticks in cattle and for the treatment of varroa mites in honey bees.
