Structure and properties
Flunixin (C14H11F3N2O2, Mr = 296.2 g/mol) is present in drugs as flunixinmeglumine. It has a similar structure to diclofenac or mefenamic acid.
Effects
Flunixin (ATCvet QM01AG90) has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. The effects are due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
Indications
In horses, cattle, and pigs for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and pain.
