Foot Deformities: Medical History

The anamnesis (medical history) represents an important component in the diagnosis of foot deformities.

Family history

  • Are there any conditions in your family that are common?
  • Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?

Social history

  • What is your profession?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What changes have you noticed in your feet?
  • Does the change exist on one or both sides?
  • How long has this change existed?
  • How has the change been treated so far?
  • Do you have any other deformities? At the knee, hip, spine, etc.?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Are you overweight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis

  • Pre-existing conditions (neurological diseases, orthopedic diseases).
  • Operations
  • Radiotherapy
  • Allergies
  • Pregnancies (first birth, location, amount of amniotic fluid, multiples; course of birth – important in congenital foot deformities).
