For children | Pain in the buttocks (butt cheeks)

For children

Since it is often difficult for children to indicate what exactly hurts them, there are many possible causes for pain in the buttocks. For one thing, the pain can be caused by trauma, such as a fall on the buttocks and resulting bruising. This does not necessarily have to be visible.

A so-called hip cold can also cause pain in the child’s buttocks, which can become so severe that walking is no longer possible. However, causes that are not related to the buttocks, but rather to the anus, should also be considered. These include, for example, prolonged diarrhea that leads to irritation of the skin or the colonization of the intestine with worms. In this case it is more likely to be an itching of the buttocks, which is difficult to distinguish from pain, especially in children.
