Forecast | Achilles tendon rupture rehabilitation

Forecast

Injured tendons in general heal only slowly and poorly – the original full load capacity is usually not reached again. However, when tendon ruptures heal, their diameter increases, which results in good stability of the tendon. If the therapy proceeds optimally, the stability of the tendon is about 90% of the healthy tendon; even competitive sports are thus possible again in most cases. The probability of a renewed rupture of the Achilles tendon (recurrence) is at 1 – 2 percent similar to the risk of injury of a healthy tendon.
