Forecast
The prognosis depends very much on the underlying disease or injury. In most cases, a sinusitis heals on its own after four weeks at the latest. Only a small percentage of cases become chronic and the prognosis is negatively affected. If the pain is triggered by fractures in the facial region, the prognosis depends very much on which bone is affected, how complicated the fracture is and, in the case of some fractures such as a complicated fracture of the nasal bone, how quickly a therapy was initiated. Therefore, it is not possible to make any general statements about the prognosis, as it can be very variable.
