Foreskin Hypertrophy, Phimosis and Paraphimosis: Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate phimosis:

Pathognomonic (evidencing a disease).

  • The prepuce (foreskin) cannot be retracted over the glans penis or can only be retracted to a very limited extent

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate paraphimosis:

Pathognomonic (evidencing a disease).

  • The prepuce can no longer be advanced over the glans penis. Acute strangulation occurs, the glans swells edematous
  • Cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the skin due to oxygen deficiency) to necrosis (local tissue death).
  • Severe pain

Attention. Paraphimosis is a urological emergency!
