Forms of therapy in orthopedics

In orthopedics there are many different forms of therapy. It is often difficult to keep an overview of which form of therapy is right for you. To give you an overview, we have listed the most important and most frequently used forms of therapy here.

Therapy with cortisone

Cortisone is often used in orthopedics because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Cortisone is often injected into a joint to inhibit the inflammation and relieve the symptoms. It can be used for herniated discs as well as for arthrosis or other diseases. It is best to consult your treating physician. Your doctor will explain to you whether treatment with cortisone is possible for you or not.

Therapy with hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is used in orthopedics to make joints supple again and to prevent the joint movements from being hindered by friction, as is the case with arthrosis, for example. For this purpose hyaluronic acid is injected into the joint. Whether treatment or supportive therapy with hyaluronic acid is possible for you should be clarified with your treating physician.

Therapy with Kinesiotape

Kinesiotape is a highly elastic adhesive strip that is stuck to the skin. There are different colors. Each color is supposed to have a different effect. In orthopedics, Kinesiotape can be used in the following diseases, among others: Sports injuries, back pain and tendosynovitis.

Ostheopathy

An ostheopath can identify movement restrictions and tensions in the body and use various techniques to release existing blockages. In orthopedics, ostheopathy can be applied to the following symptoms, among others: Back pain, hip pain and shoulder pain.

Lymphatic drainage

In orthopedics, lymph drainage is mainly used after knee operations. Through a special massage by a physiotherapist, the tissue water is transported towards the lymph nodes.
