Frequency distribution

A skin rash on the neck is common. Predestined are patients who either have a lot of hair on their neck or like to wear a scarf tightly around their neck, which in turn causes the patient to sweat more on the neck. Nickel allergy is also quite common, which is why you can often read the words “contains nickel” or “contains no nickel” on costume jewelry. Allergies or intolerances are also on the increase, especially against nuts or gluten (= celiac disease).

Therapy

A therapy against a rash on the neck is not always necessary. Especially symptoms like nervousness are extremely difficult to treat. If the rash on the neck always occurs when the person is excited or nervous, there is usually no therapy that helps to remove the spots permanently.

However, the patient can try to calm himself or herself down again through specific training, for example breathing exercises or mental training, to such an extent that the degree of nervousness decreases again and thus the “skin rash” on the neck is also reduced to a minimum. There is no specific therapy against an infection with the measles virus. However, one can try to keep the symptoms of an infection as low as possible with the help of antipyretic drugs or painkillers.

Even in the case of an infection with the chickenpox virus, therapy is also only possible symptomatically. In the case of an infection with herpes viruses, however, medication can be administered, depending on the severity of the infection. For this purpose, so-called nucleoside analogues (e.g. Aciclovir) are used, which are either taken orally in the case of a severe skin rash on the neck or a cream is applied directly to the affected area.

If a rash on the neck occurs due to an allergy to the necklace, scarf or food, the only thing that helps is to avoid the trigger. If a more serious allergic reaction with shortness of breath occurs, it is essential to call an emergency doctor so that he can ventilate the patient in an emergency and administer medication to the patient, which will lead to a swelling of the neck. In order to treat acne, one can first try to get a grip on the rash on the neck with creams that are applied to the affected skin areas.

Regular washing is also mandatory. It is also important not to push open the pimples as this will only spread the infection further. Hormonal therapy is also often carried out, for example by administering the pill to women to compensate for the excess of androgens.

There is no treatment for heat spots per se. To get rid of the rash on the neck, however, it is usually sufficient to wash the neck regularly and to stop wearing scarves or shawls, which could lead to increased sweating in the neck area.If the skin rash on the neck is caused by folliculitis, a disinfectant (antiseptic) therapy is usually sufficient, in which a cream or tincture is applied to the affected skin area. In worse cases, antibiotics can also be administered, as folliculitis is associated with bacterial infection. In order to relieve possible itching and to regenerate the skin, many herbal remedies are also suitable, which improve the skin barrier through their moisturizing and anti-inflammatory effects.
