From this one recognizes brain pressure signs

Increased intracranial pressure is referred to as an increase of more than 15 mmHg. The increased cerebral pressure is caused by an increase in volume within the bony skull. To detect signs of increased intracranial pressure, a CT or MRI is usually performed.

One possible sign of cerebral pressure is the expansion of the cerebrospinal fluid spaces, for example if there is a cerebrospinal fluid flow disorder. Asymmetry of the cerebrospinal fluid can also be an indication of excessive cerebral pressure. The space between the brain stem and the skull should also be considered.

A reduction of this space also indicates an increased intracranial pressure. A final sign of intracranial pressure may be elapsed cerebral convolutions in imaging. These indicate a swelling of the brain (cerebral edema). In addition, the MRI of the brain can possibly reveal a cause for the increased intracranial pressure, such as a tumor or bleeding.

Costs

The costs for an MRI examination of the brain are always covered by health insurance companies when there is an indication for it, i.e. when the examination is medically justified. If this is not the case and the patient wishes to have an MRI examination on his/her own initiative, without there being a medical reason for doing so, he/she must pay for the examination him/herself. For patients covered by health insurance, the costs for a brain MRI are calculated according to the Uniform Assessment Scale (EBM), whereas for private patients the costs are calculated according to the Medical Fee Schedule for Physicians (GÖA).

For patients with health insurance, the costs for pure MRI imaging of the brain skull – and thus also of the brain tissue – are 126.59€ (the costs for imaging the facial skull or the base of the skull for certain questions are the same in each case). For private patients, a minimum of 256,46€ to a maximum of 461,64€ can be charged for the MRI examination of the skull/brain – depending on the question and the examination effort. In addition to the costs only for imaging, there are usually additional costs for any contrast medium used, consultations or certain positioning.
