Ganglion Cyst (Gideon’s Disease): Surgical Therapy

1st order

  • Complete surgical removal of the ganglion is indicated for symptoms; see “Surgery for a Ganglion” for details.

Conservative methods such as fragmentation or sclerotherapy often lead to recurrence (recurrence of the disease) and should therefore not be used.

After surgery, the affected area of the body should be immobilized for ten days.

Note: A high tendency for spontaneous healing justifies a wait-and-see approach.
