Gastrointestinal infections are very common. If the infection is not too bad, herbal remedies such as teas are often a good alternative or support to conventional medicine. Often viruses or bacteria are responsible for our digestive tract going crazy.

In particularly severe cases, fever can also occur additionally. It is important to consult a doctor if you are suffering from an alleged gastrointestinal infection and to avoid contact with other people.

In addition to the correct diet, which should be as alkaline as possible, since the body is over-acidified anyway, in such a situation, one should drink a lot, since a lot of fluid and important minerals are lost, especially in the case of vomiting and diarrhoea. In addition to water, one can drink gastrointestinal teas very well in this situation. They can have different compositions, because different herbs have a positive and calming effect on our digestive tract.

You can either buy ready-made tea blends or the appropriate herbs and then simply make your own tea. The products are available in drugstores, pharmacies and health food stores, and there are also some supermarkets that offer such teas. The pharmacy and the health food store are especially recommended, because there you have competent employees who guarantee a good consultation.

Even with vegetable means – particularly those with herbs, one should pay attention not to take too much of it to itself. The recommended daily dose should not be exceeded here either. If one takes too much of some herbs, even slight negative symptoms can occur.

If you are allergic to certain ingredients, you should not drink the tea. However, the doctor or pharmacist can give you good information. It is important to mention any known allergies and additional illnesses, especially if it is a doctor who does not yet know the medical history.

One should not drink the tea for several weeks continuously. This must absolutely be clarified with the doctor or pharmacist. If you notice side effects, you should avoid the tea in the future.

How much tea must be in a cup, is usually on the packaging or on the package insert. One should adhere to this information, if the herbs are not in a finished tea bag. The herbs are infused with boiling water. The tea should be kept dry and dark. If the expiration date has passed, you should refrain from drinking the tea.
