Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of giant cell arteritis.

Family history

  • Are there any diseases in your family that are common?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • Are you experiencing any pain? In which area of the body?
  • When does the pain occur?
  • Do you have a headache when chewing?
  • Do you have a severe headache, especially in the temple area?
  • Do you have eye pain?
  • Have you noticed any visual disturbances?
  • Have you noticed any prolonged morning stiffness in yourself?
  • Do you feel fatigued?
  • Do you have a fever? Night sweats?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you lost body weight unintentionally? If so, how much (in kg) in what time?
  • Do you have sufficient appetite?

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions (muscle / joint disease, cardiovascular disease).
  • Surgeries
  • Radiotherapy

  • Allergies
