Nutritional medicine

  • Nutritional counseling based on nutritional analysis
  • Nutritional recommendations according to a mixed diet taking into account the disease at hand. This means, among other things:
    • A total of 5 servings of fresh vegetables and fruit daily (≥ 400 g; 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit).
    • Once or twice a week fresh sea fish, i.e. fatty marine fish (omega-3 fatty acids) such as salmon, herring, mackerel.
    • High-fiber diet (whole grains, vegetables).
  • Observe the following specific nutritional recommendations for neuroprotection (of all parts of the visual pathway: from the retina/retina to the visual cortex/sehrinde):
    • Diet rich in:
      • Vitamins (A, C, B2, B3, B6, B12, E).
      • Trace elements (zinc)
      • Omega-3 fatty acids (from marine fish)
      • Choline (e.g. wheat germ, herring, beef liver).

Complementary treatment methods

  • Meditation (mindfulness meditation): 60 minutes with a yoga instructor for three weeks of a meditation and breathing exercise program; participants continued to take their eye drops) – Patients with primary open-angle glaucoma improved intraocular pressure (IOP) by approximately 25% after a meditation program compared with the control group that did not participate.
