Hallux Rigidus: Medical History

The anamnesis (medical history) represents an important component in the diagnosis of hallux rigidus.

Family history

  • Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?
  • Are there frequent arthritic changes such as hallux rigidus in your family?

Social history

  • What is your profession?
  • Do you often wear shoes with high heels?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What changes have you noticed in your feet or big toes?
  • Does the change exist on one or both sides?
  • How long has this change existed?
  • How has the change been treated so far?
  • Do you have any other deformities? At the knee, hip, spine, etc.?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Are you overweight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis

  • Pre-existing conditions (gout, rheumatic diseases, orthopedic diseases).
