General measures
- Inpatient admission!
- Bed rest or sparing is required during myocarditis!
- After myocarditis is required for at least three months of sparing – during this time also no sports may be performed.
- Nicotine restriction (refrain from tobacco use).
- Alcohol restriction (abstaining from alcohol)
- Review of permanent medication due topossible effect on the existing disease.
- Avoidance of environmental exposures/intoxications:
- Alcohol
- Arsenic
- Cocaine
- Lithium
Conventional non-surgical therapy methods
- Intensive medical therapy may be required
Vaccinations
The following vaccinations are advised, as infection can often lead to worsening of the present disease:
- Flu vaccination
- Pneumococcal vaccination
