Hekla Lava

Hekla Lava is a homeopathic remedy. The ash-like substance is extracted from the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Hekla near Rejkavik. During the eruption of the volcano, fluoride-containing gases rise, which are absorbed by the lava, making it a fluoride-rich preparation.

History

In the 19th century the effect of Hekla lava was discovered by the British physician J. Garth Wilkinson. On sheep grazing in pastures at the foot of the volcano, he discovered cartilaginous growths (exostoses) on the jaw joints, benign bone deformities and tumors. The sheep took up grass contaminated with ashes. With scientific thinking he concluded that the lava could possibly be helpful in rheumatic diseases.

Fields of application

The homeopathic preparation is nowadays used in the treatment of bone diseases. The field of application is wide and varied. Clinical reports show that the lava can stop different types of bone diseases.

These include bone outgrowth, bone necrosis, deformities, tumors, osteoporosis, heel spur, osseous suppuration and syphilitic ostitis and periostitis as well as exostoses. It also has an analgesic effect in case of painful touch and pressure pain. Besides the treatment of bone diseases, the lava is also suitable for the treatment of many dental complaints. For example, it is also used for caries and gum inflammation.

Hekla Lava for the treatment of dental problems

The lava has an anti-inflammatory effect. After the removal of teeth, the preparation can prevent abscesses, inflammation and gum problems. Hekla lava has an accelerating effect on the healing of the inflammatory process in a purulent abscess by helping the pus to drain better and faster.

The often infectious and bacterially colonized fluid is thus removed from the source of infection and the inflammation can heal faster. To treat such an abscess, it is recommended to take Hekla Lava in the form of tablets, drops or globules. Effective are globules with the potencies C12, C15 or C30. In order to improve the effectiveness, homeopaths often seek long-term therapy with Hekla Lava.
