- Flawa hemostatic absorbent cotton
- Dermaplast alginate
- Stop Hémo nasal tamponade
Effects
Hemostatic absorbent cotton promotes blood clotting and gels with fluid.
Indications
Nosebleeds, small superficial bleeding.
Substances
Most hemostatic absorbent cotton on the market is made of calcium alginate fiber, a plant product derived from algae.
Application
The required amount is pulled from the vial with clean tweezers and cut with scissors. Usually 5 to 10 cm is sufficient. It should be noted that some vials contain protective pink absorbent cotton above the cotton, which must be removed first. The actual hemostatic absorbent cotton is white and not pink in color.
Adverse effects
Not known. The absorbent cotton is usually made of pure calcium alginate. Some contain benzalkonium chloride as an additive, which may cause hypersensitivity reactions. The fibers do not remain in the wound because they dissolve.
