Herpangina: Complications

The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be contributed to by herpangina:

Blood, blood-forming organs – Immune system (D50-D90).

  • Hemolytic anemia – forms of anemia (anemia) characterized by increased degradation or decay (hemolysis) of erythrocytes (red blood cells), which can no longer be compensated by increased production in the red bone marrow.

Infectious and parasitic diseases (A00-B99).

  • Gingivostomatitis herpetica (synonyms: Oral thrush, aphthous stomatitis (Latin: stomatitis aphthosa, stomatitis herpetica) – disease of the oral mucosa and gingiva (gums) caused by herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1).
  • Parotitis (parotitis) caused by the Coxsackie virus.

Cardiovascular system (I00-I99).

  • Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle).
  • Pericarditis (inflammation of the pericardium)
