Home remedy against vaginal mycosis

Many women want a gentle and inexpensive treatment for vaginal mycosis and use home remedies that are anti-inflammatory and are supposed to fight the infection in a natural way. The possibilities range from a treatment with yoghurt to sitz baths with herbal additives to self-mixed vaginal rinses. Many women swear by yoghurt for the treatment of vaginal mycosis.

To do this, a tampon or cloth is soaked in natural yoghurt and then inserted into the vagina. Many herbs, such as chamomile, horsetail or tansy, have an anti-inflammatory effect, which is why sitz baths with herbal additives against vaginal mycosis are often recommended. For this purpose, a brew is brewed from the herbs and added to the bath water.

These baths can alleviate the symptoms in the short term, but are not effective against vaginal mycosis. Vaginal rinses with vinegar water or diluted tea tree oil have a disinfecting effect and kill germs. Therefore the vaginal mycosis must first be killed by a medication. The yoghurt can only then help to rebuild and strengthen the natural environment. However, it is important that the yoghurt does not contain sugar or chemical additives, as sugar increases the growth of a yeast fungus. Moreover, natural yogurt contains different strains of bacteria than those normally found in the vagina.
