Home remedy for gum inflammation

There are many home remedies against gum inflammation. However, not all of them help equally. In the following a small list with useful means is to be pointed out:

  • Often used and very good in its effect is chamomile.

As a tincture, compress or conditioner it develops its disinfecting effect.

  • Lavender can be drizzled as an oil on the sore spot and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
  • The same applies to garlic. A clove is chewed or a slice is placed on the inflammation. This allows the full effect to unfold.
  • Cloves even have a pain-relieving effect.

For this effect, chew a clove or add clove oil to the inflammation.

  • Furthermore, there are many agents that have proven themselves as rinsing agents. Salt water, for example, kills germs and can stimulate saliva production. This should be rinsed about 3 times a day.
  • Pain can be relieved well by cooling.

The blood vessels contract in the cold and the swelling also goes down.

  • However, the most important thing with gum inflammation is proper dental hygiene. Only those who take proper care of their teeth and gums can fight gingivitis and also prevent it in the long term.

Tea tree oil is a well-known household remedy, which is not only used in the mouth. Besides its anti-inflammatory effect, it also disinfects wounds.

Thus it can effectively protect against further spreading. Even small inflammations should be treated with it at an early stage in order to alleviate worse progressions. It also promotes the healing process.

Simply mix some tea tree oil with lukewarm water and rinse with this solution several times a day. An intensive treatment is also possible by applying the oil directly to the site of the inflammation with a cotton swab. Camomile is a medicinal plant.

It contains essential oils which have various effects. In the mouth, the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects are not to be sneezed at. In case of gingivitis, bacteria can be killed and the inflammation can be influenced positively.

To do this, you have to boil a strong tea and then use it as a rinse. Furthermore, it also serves as an active ingredient in various medicines, such as Kamistad ointment. This is applied directly to the inflammation with a cotton swab.

Homeopathic remedies should only be tried at the beginning of a gum disease. In case of bleeding gums and inflammation, the remedy Mercurius solubilis is used. It can also be used for pregnant women and babies.

However, this should be discussed beforehand with an alternative practitioner, pharmacist or doctor. If these remedies do not help or if the inflammation has already existed for a long time, a visit to the dentist is strongly recommended. The risk would be too high if an underlying disease remains untreated for too long.
