Homemade Lip Balm

Ingredients (example)

The following ingredients are available in pharmacies and drugstores:

Optional: few natural additives such as vanilla, calendula extract, propolis, honey, essential oils or vitamins. See also under the detailed article lip pomade. For about 11 lipomades, depending on the size of the lipstick tube. Also needed are the lipstick tubes (e.g., online retailers, pharmacies), waterproof labels for labeling (e.g., stationery) and a small sauce pan. A small saucepan can be used instead of the lipstick tube. The pens have a shelf life of at least 6 months.

Making

  • The jojoba wax, shea butter and beeswax are melted in the sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly, add the additives and stir gently.
  • Then pour the liquid mixture into the clean lipstick tubes.
  • Because the mixture contracts when hardening, you can still pour a little more. Or you can wait with the pouring to, until the mixture is no longer too warm.
  • Allow to cool, seal and label.
