Homeopathy | Chest pain when nursing

Homeopathy

In the case of a milk congestion, there are various methods that can be used to try to reduce the amount of milk and thus alleviate the pain so that the treatment is easier and the congestion does not become too great. The homeopathic Phytolacca can be used for this purpose. But also everyday remedies like peppermint tea or sage tea and candy can reduce the amount of milk.

However, you should consult a midwife or gynaecologist beforehand to avoid accidentally weaning too much! However, if you have an inflammation of the breast, you can also use hepar sulph, chamomile, Bryonie, belladonna and many more. Some women also use acupuncture for their breast problems.

Duration

Depending on the cause and the beginning of the correct treatment, the duration can vary. Milk congestion can get better within hours and usually disappears completely a few days later. An inflammation can last from a few days to weeks. However, an abscess prolongs the duration. You should bear in mind, however, that all breastfeeding problems tend to reoccur.

When should I wean myself?

In principle, there is only one single case in which breastfeeding should be stopped due to symptoms: If both breasts are infected with the bacterial strain beta- Streptococci, breastfeeding should be paused for the duration of the inflammation. Many women who stop breastfeeding prematurely suffer from pain when breastfeeding. Therefore, an attempt should be made to find the optimal breastfeeding position.

It takes a little time at first, especially with the first child, until breastfeeding works. This is completely normal and requires practice. Both from the baby and the mother. In case of doubt, you can get help from a breastfeeding counselling or a midwife.
