In the first phase of diarrhea the following homeopathic medicines can be used:
- Chamomilla (chamomile)
- Colocynthis (Coloquinte)
- Pulsatilla (meadow pasque flower)
- Ferrum metallicum (metallic iron)
- Okoubaka
Chamomilla (chamomile)
- Chamomilla is an important medicine, especially in pediatrics. In addition to the respiratory tract, the entire digestive tract is within the sphere of action of chamomile. Especially abdominal complaints associated with abdominal cramps can be influenced well with chamomilla.
- The diarrhea is slimy greenish or whitish, like chopped, smelling badly sour and making sore.
Cramp-like abdominal pain and flatulence after eating, acidic vomiting. Bitter taste in the mouth.
- Abdominal colic of children in connection with teething. Children scream, are angry, kick and want to be carried, ask for this and that and reject the requested things harshly when they are brought
- In the evening and at night the stomach aches get worse, but they get better with a warm hot water bottle or stomach compress. The patient is noticeably bad-tempered and irritable. Do you suffer from abdominal pain in the evening?
Colocynthis (Coloquinte)

- Very similar to the action spectrum of Chamomilla: angry, irritable, impatient person. Anger and resentment beat on stomach and intestines. The diarrhea is accompanied by severe cramp-like abdominal pain and is violent and watery. The cramps force the body to crumple up. Improvement through counter-pressure on the body, after leaving winds and after bowel movements, through rest and warmth.
- Worse through movement, anger and fright and after eating.
Pulsatilla (meadow pasque flower)

- It is the remedy of choice, especially when children suffer from stomach aches and watery, almost odorless diarrhea after eating ice cream (likes ice cream, but cannot tolerate it!) or cold drinks.
Pulsatilla can be thought of when children come home with stomach aches after their child’s birthday, not only with prizes but also with stomach aches.
- Adults who need pulsatilla do not tolerate fat or fatty meat. They are prone to gastritis, sticky mouth taste, thirstlessness. After eating, pressure in the upper abdomen and a feeling of fullness with a tendency to vomit, watery diarrhea. Patients feel cold easily, but the discomfort is often worsened by heat. Better through exercise and outdoors.
