The following symptoms and complaints may indicate dust mite allergy (house dust allergy):
- Allergic reactions
- Dyspnea (shortness of breath)
- Eye tearing, eye itching (rarely conjunctivitis / conjunctivitis).
- Morning nasal blockage (leading symptom of mite rhinitis/allergic mite rhinitis).
- Rhinorrhea (runny nose).
- Skin reactions
- Cough
- Sneezing fits
- Symptoms are more frequent at night and in the early morning
Note: The symptoms of dust mite allergy occur more in the heating season – but are also present throughout the year.
In the allergy to dust mites can be a cross-reaction (cross-allergy) with the following foods:
- Crustaceans (shrimp, lobster, crab, crayfish, scampi, shrimp).
- Molluscs (mussels, snail, squid).
