House Dust Mite Allergy (Dust Allergy): Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate dust mite allergy (house dust allergy):

  • Allergic reactions
  • Dyspnea (shortness of breath)
  • Eye tearing, eye itching (rarely conjunctivitis / conjunctivitis).
  • Morning nasal blockage (leading symptom of mite rhinitis/allergic mite rhinitis).
  • Rhinorrhea (runny nose).
  • Skin reactions
  • Cough
  • Sneezing fits
  • Symptoms are more frequent at night and in the early morning

Note: The symptoms of dust mite allergy occur more in the heating season – but are also present throughout the year.

In the allergy to dust mites can be a cross-reaction (cross-allergy) with the following foods:

  • Crustaceans (shrimp, lobster, crab, crayfish, scampi, shrimp).
  • Molluscs (mussels, snail, squid).
