Household remedy against dark circles

It is not always necessary to buy expensive creams or take advantage of treatments to treat dark circles around the eyes. At first, an attempt can also be made to remove the dark circles with the help of classic home remedies. There are many different household remedies that are supposed to help against dark circles. However, each person has to try out for himself or herself which of these helps best.

Tea/teabags

Cold but still moist bags of black tea or chamomile tea can help against dark circles under the eyes. To do this, steep two bags of the tea in hot water and then leave to cool in the refrigerator. If the tea bags are cold, they can be placed on the closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.

Instead of the cold tea bags, lukewarm ones can also be used. To do this, simply let the bags steep until they are only lukewarm. The tea and its ingredients are supposed to calm the eyes, the cold helps to reduce swelling. In principle, it does not matter what kind of tea is used. Caffeinated teas, such as green or black tea, are said to constrict the blood vessels due to their caffeine content, the dark circles under the eyes and the bags under the eyes should become even smaller.

Milk and quark

To apply the milk to the eye, a cotton wool pad is soaked in the milk and then placed on the eye for 10 minutes. The milk is supposed to cause blood vessels and lymphatic vessels to contract, thus reducing dark circles or bags under the eyes. In addition to milk, cold curd cheese can also be applied under the eyes, which can then work for up to half an hour.

However, do not apply the curd to the eye or the upper eyelid. The curd should then be washed off with water. An eye mask can also be easily made from curd and egg white. This should be left on until the mixture has dried and then washed off with water.

Potato

A slice of raw potatoes can also help to get rid of dark circles under the eyes. The potato slices are placed on the closed eyes for 10 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, a grated potato wrapped in a kitchen towel can be placed on the eye. The starch contained in the potato should reduce the unattractive dark circles around the eyes.

Cold teaspoon, ice cube, water

Place a teaspoon in the fridge or freezer and take it out as soon as it is cold enough. Then place the teaspoon with the round side on the eye. Alternatively, ice cubes, chilled/frozen vegetables or special eye cooling glasses that are available for purchase can be used. If you have to do it quickly in the morning, it can already help to wash your face with cold water. Cooling causes the blood vessels to contract, reducing swelling and dark circles under the eyes.
