Household remedy against wasp stings

If all preventive measures did not help and it came nevertheless to a wasp sting, there are numerous household remedies, which are said to have a lindernde effect. Above all, the local application of heat-heat with temperatures of 45 to 50°C is to be mentioned. If heat is applied to the area of the sting directly after the wasp sting, this is said to lead to the destruction (denaturation) of the proteins contained in the wasp venom, which cause unpleasant skin symptoms such as swelling, pain and itching.Such a heat application can be done with a teaspoon heated in a water bath, for example.

But be careful: danger of burns! Nowadays, there are so-called sting healers especially for local heat application after wasp or bee stings. At the push of a button, these battery-powered devices warm up and provide local heat for a few seconds.

Besides the application of heat, the application of cold is also an important household remedy for wasp stings. A cold pack or some ice cubes will reduce the swelling and ease the pain. For local treatment of irritated skin after a wasp sting, household remedies such as essential oils (for example, tea tree oil, clove oil or lavender oil), a freshly cut onion, honey or a few drops of vinegar or vinegar wrappers are also suitable.
