How do the symptoms change in the course of the disease?

The disease group of vasculitides comprises a variety of clinical pictures, some of which are very different and do not develop in the same way in every individual. It is therefore not possible to make a general statement about how the symptoms of vasculitis change over the course of the disease.Usually the disease is not curable. However, if it is detected in time and a consistently applied therapy is successful, the symptoms will slowly decrease.

In many cases it is even possible to achieve complete freedom from symptoms for the affected person. However, relapses and a resurgence of the symptoms can occur at any time. In less favorable cases, however, the symptoms may directly increase further and further.

This can happen if the disease is not recognized in time or if treatment is not carried out or does not work. In the worst case, there is the threat of damage to the end organs, for example the lungs or heart, which can ultimately limit life. In some forms of vasculitis, a stroke can also occur at a young age and can lead to hemiplegia and speech disorders, among other things.
