How high is the risk of recurrence if I have had a placetainisufficiency before?

The prognosis and the risk of recurrence of placental insufficiency can vary greatly depending on the case. A general risk of recurrence is therefore not easy to state. It depends on the cause of the placental insufficiency.

Chronic maternal diseases, smoking or pregnancy-related diseases are associated with a generally increased risk of placental insufficiency. Women who have already suffered from placental insufficiency under such circumstances have an increased risk of developing placental insufficiency again compared to women without these risk factors. However, acute placental insufficiency does not necessarily imply an increased risk in future pregnancies.
