How long does papilledema last?
How long a papilloedema is present depends very much on the underlying disease. Many causes such as increased intracranial pressure can be treated quickly in some cases. After successful treatment, the papilledema disappears very quickly by itself.
Other causes, on the other hand, (e.g. increased blood pressure) are chronic diseases that can be adjusted and improved with medication. However, they cannot be fully treated, so the risk of developing pupillary edema remains.
