- C-peptide (part of proinsulin; indicator of beta cell function/insulin-producing cells in the islets of Langerhans of the pancreas (pancreas); decreased levels: including diabetes mellitus, starvation; increased levels: including insulinoma, metabolic syndrome, renal function impairment).
- Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose).
- Blood glucose daily profile
- HbA1c value (long-term blood glucose value)
Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and the obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Small blood count
- Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, cystatin C or creatinine clearance as appropriate.
