In psychogenic hyperventilation, the following measures are recommended:

- Calming the patient, including anxiolysis if necessary, i.e., reducing anxiety with medication.
- Education
- If necessary, rebreathing into a bag to enrich the breath with carbon dioxide.
- Avoidance of psychosocial situations:
