Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of hypoparathyroidism (hypothyroidism).

Family history

  • Are there any diseases in your family that are common?
  • What is the general health of your family members?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Do you have/had muscle spasms/muscle cramps?
  • When did these first occur?
  • How long have these lasted/are they still going on?
  • Do you suffer from cardiac arrhythmias?
  • Do you suffer from cramps in the gastrointestinal tract?
  • Do you suffer from sensitivity disorders such as tingling or numbness?
  • Do you suffer from psychological complaints such as anxiety, depressive moods, irritability?
  • Do they have brittle nails? Tooth grooves?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you have to urinate more?

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Surgeries (removal of parathyroid glands, radical neck surgery, strumectomy (removal of goiter), total thyroidectomy (TT; surgical removal of entire thyroid gland)).
  • Allergies
  • Environmental history
