In which foods is HDL contained?

HDL itself is not contained in food and cannot be absorbed through food. Instead, there are a lot of foods that help the body to produce more “good” cholesterol, i.e. HDL. Particularly suitable are foods that contain many unsaturated fatty acids.

Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are among the unsaturated fatty acids. These are contained in fish, nuts, legumes and seeds. Besides vegetable fats contain tendency rather insatiated fatty acids.

In contrast to it above all saturated fatty acids are contained in animal fats. In order to bring the body to an increased HDL production, therefore in particular vegetable fats (oils, margarine, nuts etc.) should be used.

Furthermore, vitamin C and vitamin E have a positive effect on the HDL level. These vitamins are contained in many fruits. Both vitamins are antioxidants. Thus they counteract the “bad” cholesterol LDL and support the HDL in the body.
