Incontinence Pads

Fields of application

Incontinence pads are used as an aid to accompany the treatment of urinary incontinence or fecal incontinence.

Products

Incontinence pads look similar to traditional sanitary napkins and panty liners, but have many times the capacity to absorb fluid. They are worn directly on the body and can be attached to undergarments. In addition to the actual pads, other products are available. These include incontinence pants (underpants), which are put on like underpants and wear like normal underwear. Incontinence diapers are fastened with an adhesive closure or a flexible waistband. Fixation underpants (mesh panties) resemble underpants, which can be used to hold pads against the body. Finally, absorbent bed pads are available to be placed on the mattress.

Features

The products absorb liquid and bind it inside, providing a dry surface. Furthermore, they neutralize odor-causing bacteria and unpleasant odors for hours. They are air-permeable and skin-friendly. The surface has a slightly acidic to neutral pH to prevent infections, intertrigo and diaper dermatitis.

Product differences

Products differ in the amount of liquid they can absorb (absorbency level, absorption capacity). It ranges from a few milliliters for thin panty liners to two liters for diapers. In general, the more liquid the products can absorb, the more voluminous they are. Different sizes are available for different body sizes (e.g. XS, S, M, L, XL). In general, the following points should be considered when selecting products:

  • To the complaints and daily activities adapted absorbency.
  • Good fit on the body
  • Not visible and audible under clothing
