Up to 20 percent of all couples have problems fulfilling their desire to have children. A woman’s highest natural fertility – fertility – is between the ages of 15 and 25, after which it steadily declines. With the onset of menopause, natural fertility ends. The natural fertility of men decreases slowly starting from the age of 40 – however, in individual cases it can remain until old age.

The causes of infertility are varied in both men and women. In each case, the cause of infertility is 39 percent in the woman alone, and in another 26 percent in both the man and the woman. In 15 percent of all couples, the cause of infertility remains unexplained. Therefore, infertility therapy is always a couple therapy.
