Influenza vaccination in the nursing period

A flu vaccination can also be administered during the nursing period. Who did not let itself inoculate thus during the pregnancy yet, this can make up for in the lactation period. This should be done in particular if the newborn baby is still very young during the flu season.

If the baby is under six months old, it cannot yet be vaccinated against the flu itself. Instead, the environment including the nursing mother should be vaccinated. In this way, the baby is less likely to be infected with the flu. All vaccines used on the mother are considered safe for the baby.

When can I do sports again?

In case of illness, it is often recommended not to do any sports or not to exert oneself excessively. However, a vaccination does not represent a disease, so there is no strict ban on sports. However, after a vaccination one should not necessarily do heavy endurance sports or training with heavy weights.

This can lead to an aggravation of a vaccination reaction. It is not excluded that the pain around the vaccination site becomes stronger and lasts longer. So if there is a need to do sports immediately after vaccination, it is advisable to reduce the intensity of the planned sport.
