Ingredients

The ingredients of herbal blood differ depending on the type of dosage form. The main component of all forms is iron II gluconate. There are also additives such as folic acid or vitamin B12.

Both additives are usually noted directly in the name on the packaging so that they can be found quickly. Also contained in herbal blood are the ingredients nicotinamide, riboflavin or also thiamine chloride hydrochloride (vitamin B1 hydrochloride). Furthermore, some herbal ingredients are usually found in the form of so-called dry extracts such as nettle herb, hawthorn leaves, red algae tallus or ribwort. However, not every ingredient must be present in every dosage form. It is therefore always a good idea to take a look at the packaging with the information on the ingredients before deciding on a dosage form for herbal blood.

Iron

Especially during pregnancy, the body needs an increased intake of iron, as iron consumption increases significantly. In most cases, the body’s own iron reserves are not sufficient for the entire pregnancy. As iron is needed for the formation of haemoglobin, the red blood pigment, it is particularly important to ensure an adequate supply of iron.

Haemoglobin transports oxygen in the blood and therefore, if sufficiently available, ensures a good oxygen supply for the unborn child. If you are planning a pregnancy, you can make sure that the iron level in the blood is as high as possible before the beginning of the pregnancy. The intake of herbal blood or other iron preparations should be discussed with the treating doctor.

Herbal blood as tablet

Herbal blood is available in many dosage forms. One dosage form is the tablet. They are usually only available in the active strength of 100 milligrams.

Although the tablets are not available on prescription, you can only buy them in pharmacies. Herbal blood tablets should be taken with plenty of liquid and, if possible, with some distance from meals. The iron intake is not reduced by the distance to the meals.

Distance means that the tablets should be taken either on an empty stomach or some time after a meal. Adult patients should take one tablet twice a day. The Herbal Blood Tablets are recommended both for iron deficiency conditions and during pregnancy.
