Injection lipolysis

Definition

Injection lipolysis is colloquially known as “fat-way injection” and can reduce fat pads in various parts of the body due to its ingredients. The active ingredients of injection lipolysis are so-called phospholipids, which consist of a water-loving (hydrophilic) head and a fat-loving (lipophilic) tail part and which occur naturally in the double membrane of human cells. A mixture of different subgroups is extracted from soybeans and prepared for medical use.

Originally, the active ingredient has been used for more than 50 years, mainly in surgery, to prevent so-called “fat embolism” (the term refers to the risk that during an operation fat can enter the bloodstream, e.g. from the bone marrow, and thus block vital blood vessels). In injection lipolysis, the active ingredient is used as off-label use, which means that there is no approval from the manufacturer for this purpose. Injection lipolysis is performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia.

After the region to be treated has been disinfected and anaesthetized, the active ingredient is injected into the fatty tissue with a thin syringe. At this point, the excess fat cells disintegrate and the released fat is metabolised in the liver. Thus, injection lipolysis is generally suitable for normal-weight people with individual problem zones, but not for weight reduction. In about 90-95% of the patients the desired result can be achieved, about 5% of the patients do not respond to the treatment. Another method of fat reduction is the vibration lipolysis.

Injection lipolysis of the double chin

The unloved double chin is a common and well suited site for injection lipolysis. Diet and physical exercise usually do not control where you lose weight. Thus, even after a successful change in lifestyle, a double chin can remain, which can be very disturbing for the patient who has worked hard for his or her health and desired figure.

In this case, injection lipolysis can help to “melt” the excess fatty tissue on the chin and tighten the tissue under the chin. A reduction of the circumference of 2 to 4 cm (depending on the body part and individual response) should be possible according to the therapists. However, at all points of application, injection lipolysis cannot replace a healthy lifestyle and sufficient exercise to tighten the connective tissue and can therefore only have a supportive effect if the desired change does not occur in certain parts of the body. There are some exercises against a double chin that specifically train the muscles of the face.
