Insole Shoes | Exercises for heel spurs

Insole Shoes

Special insoles for shoes help with the lower heel spur, as they relieve the affected area. These insoles have a recess (punching insoles) at the position of the heel spur.Viscoelastic insoles (gel insoles) can also be helpful, as they distribute the pressure over the entire foot. In the case of a rear heel spur, a heel cushion, heel wedges or pieces of felt can be glued to the rear toe cap.

If there is a known foot malposition (pronation malposition, supination malposition), you can consult an orthopedic clinic and have insoles specially made for your foot. Insoles can reduce tensile forces on the plantar fascia between the heel and the front ball of the foot and thus provide relief in the event of heel spur symptoms. Especially if you suffer from fallen arches, the insoles replace the shock-absorbing function of the longitudinal arch of the foot (plantar fascia, foot aponeurosis). Insole shoes are also recommended in the case of a hollow foot with a kink, splay, flat or hollow ball. The costs of the insoles or orthopedic health shoes are partially covered by health insurance companies.

Summary

The heel spur is a disease that occurs relatively frequently and is usually caused by overloading and incorrect loading. This is often caused by wrong footwear, too high training intensity or an already existing foot malposition. All in all, however, a heel spur can be well treated, since even a relief usually leads to healing within a few weeks.

It is crucial for the therapy to analyze the respective cause in detail and to eliminate the negative triggers for the disease accordingly. For athletes it helps to adjust running shoes, vary the training program and reduce the intensity. For overweight people, weight reduction and wearing insoles should initiate an improvement.

If there is a weakness of the calf muscles, the small foot muscles or a foot malposition, physiotherapeutic measures should be used. General foot malpositions can be corrected by wearing insoles. In order to take prophylactic measures, you should use stretching exercises, coordination exercises, massages, mobilization techniques and strengthening exercises for your feet.
