Interactions | Side effect of Clexane

Interactions

Clexane® interact with a number of other drugs. On the one hand, the effect of Clexane® can be enhanced by certain substances, resulting in an increased tendency to bleed. On the other hand, the effect of Clexane® can be weakened, i.e. there is less bleeding due to less blood dilution.

The effect of Clexane® is intensified by drugs that also influence coagulation. These include acetylsalicylic acid (ASA, aspirin), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, fibrinolytics, clopidogrel or some cytostatic drugs. Clexane®, on the other hand, is attenuated by antihistamines, digitalis, certain antibiotics (tetracyclines), nicotine and ascorbic acid.

Contraindications

There are some contraindications for Clexane® administration. Clexane® must not be given if such contraindications exist. These include an allergy to Clexane®, the occurrence of bleeding in the last month and a stroke or cerebral haemorrhage in the last six months.

Furthermore, Clexane® is contraindicated if the patient has a coagulation disorder or has ulcers of the stomach or intestine, as in these cases the risk of bleeding is increased. Clexane® must also not be administered in cases of severe liver or pancreatic diseases or inflammation of the inner wall of the heart (endocarditis). If coagulation-promoting tablets (oral anticoagulants) are prescribed at the same time, increased caution is required when using Clexane® , as here too the risk of bleeding increases.

Price

Clexane® is sold in the form of syringes. Such a syringe with 20mg costs about 3.50 Euro, with 40mg about 5.80 Euro. In bulk packs, the price per piece is lower.
