Nutritional medicine

  • Nutritional counseling based on nutritional analysis
  • Nutritional recommendations according to a mixed diet taking into account the disease at hand. This means, among other things:
    • A total of 5 servings of fresh vegetables and fruit daily (≥ 400 g; 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit).
    • Once or twice a week fresh sea fish, i.e. fatty marine fish (omega-3 fatty acids) such as salmon, herring, mackerel.
    • High-fiber diet (whole grains, vegetables).
  • Observance of the following special dietary recommendations:
    • If the complaints such as belching, feeling of pressure in the stomach, cramping abdominal discomfort (abdominal pain), nausea (nausea)/vomiting and / or feeling of fullness are triggered by the consumption of certain foods or beverages, they should be avoided.
    • Avoid fatty foods
    • Switching to several small, regular meals can improve the symptoms of irritable stomach (functional dyspepsia).
  • Selection of appropriate foods based on the nutritional analysis.
  • See also under “Therapy with micronutrients (vital substances)” – if necessary, taking a suitable dietary supplement.

Psychotherapy

  • Psychotherapy can be helpful in many patients, especially since drug therapy usually does not produce sufficient effect. The goals of this form of therapy should primarily be stress reduction and proper handling of conflict situations. In addition, relaxation techniques such as autogenic training or progressive muscle relaxation after Jacobson can be offered.
