Is it possible to get infected by the skin changes in neurodermatitis?
Neurodermatitis is a chronic skin disease which is mainly due to a genetic susceptibility. In many cases, the predisposition for neurodermatitis is therefore inherited by the parents. The inflammation of the skin is caused by a kind of allergic reaction, which leads to a hypersensitivity reaction of the skin.
Infection or transmission of the skin changes through contact with other people is not possible. However, many people are not aware of this. Healthy people therefore do not have to be afraid that they could be infected with neurodermatitis through contact with sick people. The skin changes or the permanent itching are neither transmitted to other people through physical contact nor through body fluids.
