Is pulmonary fibrosis contagious?
No, pulmonary fibrosis is not caused by viruses or bacteria. Infection is therefore not possible. However, you can get pulmonary fibrosis if you inhale asbestos or dusty vapours like a person affected.
These toxins damage the lungs of all people. However, contact with patients with pulmonary fibrosis is not contagious. Even in the idiopathic form, where the cause of pulmonary fibrosis is unknown, genetic factors are more likely to be considered, and an infectious disease is virtually ruled out.
