Is this method safe? | Testicular bathing as contraception

Is this method safe?

First of all you should be aware that no contraceptive is 100% safe. Every body reacts differently and contraception is also highly dependent on external influences. For example, when using the pill, it is important to take it regularly, or when using a condom, it is important that it is correctly applied.

Is testicular bathing painful?

This question cannot be answered in general. In the literature it is described that this method is at the limit of what can be endured, but the sensation of pain differs like no other perception. Apart from the weights that are clamped to the testicles, which are certainly not very comfortable, the temperature plays a decisive role.

A whirlpool serves as a comparison. The water temperature there is usually 37 degrees, which is body temperature. For the testicular bath this temperature must be increased by another 8 degrees. It is therefore strongly recommended to test the whole thing once for the full 45 minutes before deciding on this type of contraception.

What are the risks/side effects?

The highest possible risk of this contraceptive method is an unwanted pregnancy. The effectiveness of this contraceptive method is scientifically controversial and strongly dependent on external influences. Side effects may include burns of the skin on the thighs and penis. It may therefore be advisable to wear special underwear.
