Medical history (history of illness) is an important component in the diagnosis of jellyfish stings.

  • What are your symptoms?
    • Swelling of the skin?
    • Painful itchy spot?
  • If you have pain:
    • Did the pain occur immediately?
    • Is the pain severe to massive?
    • On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is very mild and 10 is very severe, how severe is the pain?
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms such as swelling of the lips (angioedema), shortness of breath* , dizziness* , etc.?
  • What first aid measures have already been taken?
