Jurnista®

General information

Jurnista® is a drug in the analgesic group (analgesics) and is used to treat severe pain. It contains hydromorphone hydrochloride.

Contraindications (contraindications)

Jurnista® should not be used if any of the following contraindications are met: Absolute contraindication:Jurnista should never be used in infants, children, coma patients, women in labor or during childbirth.

  • Allergy to hydromorphone hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Jurnista®, or any other Jurnista ingredient
  • Severe constriction or blockage of the stomach
  • Severe constriction or blockage of the intestine
  • “blind intestinal loops” after intestinal surgery
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Breathing problems
  • Severe acute asthma
  • Suddenly occurring severe abdominal pain
  • Current or past use of MAO inhibitors for depression
  • Taking morphine-like painkillers (e.g. buprenorphine, nalbuphine, pentazocine)
  • Planned surgery in the next 24 hours

If the following symptoms / illnesses are present, it must be carefully considered whether medication with Jurnista® is recommended:

  • Problems with lung/breathing apparatus
  • Taking other opioid analgesics
  • Heart problems
  • Liver problems
  • (Neben-/)kidney problems
  • Headaches
  • Head injury
  • Chronic constipation
  • Sudden severe diarrhea
  • Intestinal diseases
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Bile duct disease
  • Alcohol addiction
  • Drug dependence
  • Dysfunctions of the CNS (central nervous system)
  • Seizures (e.g. epilepsy)
  • Hypothyroidism (hypothyroidism)
  • Prostate Enlargement
  • Problems with urination
  • Toxic Psychosis
  • Severe curvature of the spine (kyphoscoliosis)

Special features of Jurnista®

Tablet casing:Sometimes there is something in the bowel movement that looks similar to the tablet. However, this only represents the outer tablet shell, which has not dissolved and does not mean that the active ingredient of the tablet has not worked in the body. Elderly patients: In older patients, the effect of Jurnista® may be increased and, in particular, the frequency of side effects increases with age.

Constipation:Constipation is very common during treatment with Jurnista®. Without treatment it is usually impossible to cure, so it is important to consult a doctor if it occurs. Laxatives are recommended, which lead to a softening of the stool. Doping tests:In doping tests, the active ingredient of Jurnista® is detectable in the blood and can lead to the exclusion of athletes in competitions.
