The medical history (history of the patient) represents an important component in the diagnosis of knee joint effusion.

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Are you experiencing pain? If yes, when does the pain occur?
  • Where is the pain localized?
  • Do you have a pain-related functional limitation of the knee joint?
  • Have you noticed an increase in circumference, overheating and/or redness of the joint?
  • Was there a trigger for the symptomatology? Accident? Injection?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you participate in sports? If yes, which sport discipline(s) and how often weekly?

Self history including medication history.
