Knee Pain (Gonalgia): Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein).
  • Uric acid
  • Antibody tests for the detection of bacterial or viral infections.
  • Macroscopic, microscopic and laboratory examination of knee joint punctate (serous, amber, bloody; urate crystals; bacteriology: direct germ detection) – in case of suspected infection with typical local signs of infection and possibly accompanying fever or night pain Note: The effusion diagnosis must be done before antibiotic administration!
