Knee school

Knee training should strengthen the thigh extensor muscles, the quadriceps muscle and stretch ligaments and tendons. Exercises are presented in detail on the following pages.

Idea of the knee school

The knee school has the goal of stabilizing a damaged knee joint (knee arthrosis) and thus making it free of complaints, but also to keep complaint free knee joints in this condition. Here muscles should be trained, but also tendons and ligaments should be stretched. We have divided our knee school into the following subject areas:

  • Knee school: exercises of the quadriceps
  • Knee school: Exercises of the thigh flexors with arthrosis
  • Knee school: muscle shortening and ligament shortening

Training modalities

Number of repetitions: 3-4 series a 10-15 repetitions with 10sec. Holding time, the break between the training series is 1-2 minutes, every 2nd day training Load intensity: approx. 60% of maximum strength Subjective check: during the repetitions 7-10 the load must be clearly felt, attention should be paid to fatigue tremor Goal: systematic training should increase the load and improve stability. The load capacity of the cartilage can only be increased by increasing the load.
